Windows Server 2003
This is the Foundation Platform required to run most Business IT Solutions from Microsoft (as well as for thousands of other
software vendors).
Windows 2003 Server is the core software which enables organisations to connect computers and devices together via routers / switches linked via cables or wirelessly.
Connection to resources on the Internet by users is also enabled and managed including DNS, DHCP, IPsec, NAT and Firewall capability.
With Active Directory users and devices can easily be organised and managed into a coherent, logical hierarchy based upon groups, locations and organisational structures.
Windows 2003 Server has very strong identity authentication and encryption capability, enabling organisations to easily control access to critical data and applications.
Windows 2003 assists collaboration by enabling the sharing of documents and resources across the local area network LAN or Wide Area Network (WAN) in a controlled and secure fashion. Services include file and print sharing, SharePoint Services, Web Site Server (IIS).
It enables organisations to extend their network to any location using the Internet (instead of very expensive private circuits) in a secure
way using vpn (Virtual Private Network) and Terminal Services. In-built storage management with back-up and replication capability.
It offers high scalability (up to hundreds of thousand of users) and is very stable and secure.
It incorporates application deployment and management tools. A huge amount of additional functionality not described here
is also included, providing incredible value for money.
