New Excel Report Writer
As of June 2008 (release of Dynamics GP 10.0 SP2), SmartList Builder now includes Excel Report Writer which is a great new reporting tool.
It basically allows you to access and choose multiple pieces of data from Dynamics GP and plug these into Excel to create your own sophisticated, multi-table reports that are instantly refreshable and are in a format that you know and love – Microsoft Office Excel. It’s easy to use, featuring a user interface that is very similar to that for SmartList Builder.
You can link together tables and views that are not currently joined. For example, you could link the Inventory SmartList with the Inventory Transactions SmartList to produce a new report that would have otherwise taken a lot more time to build. It also has the functionality to be deployed to non-GP users so a whole organisation can see the reports without being a GP user. Please note, however, that the reports need to be authored in GP and not Excel.
If you do not already have SmartList Builder, Excel Report Builder may provide the additional motive to purchase this à-la-carte GP module.
