What’s New - Dynamics GP 11.0
Highlights
Dynamics GP Version 11.0, due for release in the UK in June 2010, will focus on increasing depth and reach, in terms of extending core functionality, richer integration with the Microsoft Office system and creating more external connections through Web Services.
The overall aim is to deliver to you a faster return on your investment.
Enhanced integration with the Office system and portal technologies (making greater use of SharePoint functionality) will gear you up for improved productivity, business intelligence capabilities and a more connected way of working, including:
-
addition of 12 roles-based dashboards
-
greater customisation of GP homepage, including ability to add your own metrics

-
end-to-end visibility of data with two-way drill-back into Excel and GP
-
printing of any GP forms and reports to a Word document, such as sales orders
-
personalisation of Dynamics GP Office templates

-
emailing of groups of documents (such as purchase orders) with just the click of a button
-
new workflow processes, including supplier and employee approvals

-
built-in customer and vendor portals, allowing those you do business with to login and view key information related to their transactions in GP, or even make changes to select data within the system (e.g. a supplier updating shipping dates on a PO).

Corporate Performance Management
Report Writer is being gradually phased out to be replaced by more user-friendly Corporate Performance Management tools currently being built by the Microsoft FRx team using .Net technology. This phasing out process started with SQL Server Reporting Services and Excel Report Builder in Version 10.0 and is set to continue with GP 11 and subsequent Service Packs.
Reporting in GP 11.0 will be more graphical by nature, to include stacks of charts, graphs and gauges, available on both Dynamics GP homepage and Business Portal dashboards. You will also be able to drill down from these graphical elements to reports that contain detailed transaction data behind it, and then drill down all the way from those reports back into the Dynamics GP enquiry windows.
Rapid Implementation
From a technical perspective, GP 11.0 will also deliver more rapid implementation tools to enable quick and easy deployment to include installation, data migration and configuration. Focus will also be on achieving full 64-bit compatibility.
